What Not to Wear
Channel TLC’s What Not to Wear is a show dedicated to find people on the streets that, according to the hosts, do not have any fashion sense. The hosts, Stacy and Clinton, go out in the city to find outrageous fashion sense. They bring the person back to a department store to get them new clothes, to teach them a few rules about what not to wear, and they get their hair done. Finally, they are sent back on the street to go on with their lives. I think conformity does play a role in today’s society. If the majority is wearing something or doing something, most likely the population goes along with it.

I agree that conformity is a problem in our society. It seems like whenever you see a new trend or style in school, you have to keep up with that style in order to be “cool” or “popular” which shouldn’t be the case. We should all be dependent on what we wear and not care of what everyone thinks.

Okay, so I do agree with your thought about conformity. If you’ve ever watched it you can see the people they have on the show are people who aren’t really comfortable with their body shape and because of this they never ever go out and take care of themselves. Or, there are the people who actually do try and dress like everyone else and the show helps them see that just because it’s “in” doesn’t mean it’s flattering.
